As usual, Scot has covered everything you need to know and then some. Starting from the business problems that SharePoint is intended to solve and progressing through all of the features and functionality (not just the new stuff), the book will help you become a better SharePoint developer – whether you ever worked with SharePoint 2003 or not.

I’m going to be teaching a few web developers how to work with SharePoint and this book will be their primary text. I just ordered one copy for each of them and will expect them to read it cover to cover – which will make my job of teaching them much easier.

If you want to learn SharePoint development, buy this book. You won’t be disappointed.

I purchased two books on WSS v3 for developers at the same time, this one, and one by Todd Bleeker. This one by Hillier wins hands down. Very clear explanation of the business case for Sharepoint, and an orderly and thorough introduction to all the technical issues. I highly recommend it.

I was assigned on a project where I should be using MOSS 2007. I had not used MOSS before and I needed a book that will give me a jump start. This book does that. For a beginner it is a very good book. However the instance you need more detailed information this book is not that useful.

The book is well organized with good exercises driving the concept to an actual product. Recommend this book to anyone looking to customize SharePoint using C#.

I use this book as a reference for creating a new portal site. Often, I would forget the mandatory Active Directory accounts for site creation. At 5 USD, it is a great book to have to pull up information about Sharepoint.
